When you’re a busy mother with your own dental practice and a teaching position at NYU’s College of Dentistry, there’s bad news and good news. The bad news: you know how much work your teeth need and how little time you have to take care of them. The good news for Dr. Simone Kahan was that she knew where she would go to take care of them. Dr. Kahan explains that she has always been cavity-prone and as a dentist her tendency was to ignore her own needs for long periods of time. Besides tooth decay she had developed a cross bite where her lower jaw extended beyond her upper jaw. In addition her gummy and uneven smile line had to be addressed as well. Our first phase of treatment for Dr. Kahan was to correct the cross bite with Invisalign. Once satisfied with the new position of her teeth we corrected her uneven gum line with a gumlift. Finally we were prepared to definitively restore her teeth with a combination of porcelain veneers and crowns on the entire upper arch and lower molars. Simone explained “being a dentist, you’re both more demanding of the treatment and more appreciative when you recognize the high quality of the work”.
