What’s the Best Way to Whiten Your Teeth?

By NYC Smile Design

Stained and discolored teeth can be a significant source of dissatisfaction with your smile. But what’s the best way to remove tooth stains and restore a brilliant and flawless shine? That depends entirely on the type of tooth stains you are dealing with and is something the experienced Manhattan cosmetic dentists at NYC Smile Design would be happy to help you determine during your one-on-one tooth whitening consultation.

Contact the experienced cosmetic dentists at NYC Smile Design to learn how we can help you whiten and brighten your smile in the safest and most effective ways available

We offer two teeth whitening options:

  • In-office whitening with Zoom!
  • Professional take-home tooth whitening kits

In-office whitening takes around one hour and produces immediate results, making it best for people who want to whiten quickly. Take-home kits allow you to whiten at your own pace and can effectively remove even deeper stains over the course of 20 to 30 days. Which of these options is best for your needs is something that will be based on the types of stains you are dealing with and the timeframe that you have established to reach your goals.

Why not Just Buy a Tooth Whitening Kit at the Store?

Store bought teeth whitening kits have two large disadvantages:

  • They do not come with a fully customized application tray – even boil-and-bite application trays that mold, somewhat, to the contours of your teeth cannot compare to the professionally crafted options available at our NYC cosmetic dentistry office. This means that store bought whitening kits cannot prevent bleaching agents from irritating soft oral tissue or guarantee an even application of the whitening solution.
  • They are not overseen by an experienced cosmetic dentist – if you have underlying oral health problems, if you have receding gums, if you have exposed tooth roots or porous enamel, whitening can cause severe tooth sensitivity. Unless you are working with an experienced cosmetic dentist, there is no way to know if these issues will impact your whitening experience and potentially cause serious issues down the road.

There are myriad reasons to have your teeth professionally whitened in New York City. Call NYC Smile Design at 212-452-3344 to schedule a consultation and learn more.
