Shawna’s
TransformationShawna is an interior designer specializing in kitchens, baths, and home offices. Like other NYC Smile Design patients who happen to be creatives, she immediately recognized Mello and Tabib’s work as the artistic process that it is. In her own work, Shawna builds her clients’ dreams, and she could see that this “cool couple of dentists” were doing the same.
She had set out to find the best-looking veneers on Instagram, and it was that search which led her to Drs. Tabib and Mello. She was looking for a big, beautiful, natural-looking, Julia Roberts smile; and she could see from their before-and-afters that they’d be able to give it to her. Shawna also knew what she didn’t want: She recalls telling Dr. Tabib at her first visit, that she did not want, “those Willy Wonka teeth, all the same size.”
It turned out Shawna was a great candidate for porcelain veneers, having always had what she describes as soft, brittle teeth. She once broke a tooth eating spaghetti, which led to her marrying her fiancé at city hall prior to their wedding date in order to quickly acquire dental insurance! Even farther back, at the age of three, she had eight cavities, and jokes that she’s had “a million” crowns.
