Like so many others with the same problem, Rajan's family photo albums were full of pictures in which he barely showed his teeth when he smiled. He was hiding a long-standing condition: because of a diet that often triggered his acid reflux, Rajan's teeth had been severely eroded over the years. Rajan's worn teeth and upper lip that hardly moved contributed to a smile that was not aesthetic . Our plan for Rajan was to place porcelain veneers on the entire surface of his upper and lower front teeth (to give him a smile that he would feel comfortable showing the world), and to provide additional porcelain coverage on all the biting surfaces of his back teeth (to protect them from further acid erosion and lengthen the lower third of the face). Although the treatment was conservative, the results were anything but. For the first time in years, Rajan's photos reflect a new, broad, and confident smile.
